Zelenskyy Commends Poland's Vital Defense Role
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday lauded Poland's unwavering defense support and strategic alliance during a key meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Kyiv, as Ukraine celebrated its Constitution Day.
In a statement, Zelenskyy expressed deep appreciation for Duda's steadfast backing, saying, "Andrzej has stood with Ukraine since the first days of the war – always side by side, a reliable ally and a true friend." He highlighted the enduring solidarity between the two neighboring nations amidst the ongoing conflict.
The two leaders focused their discussions on vital regional security issues, NATO coordination, and upcoming EU decisions, further strengthening their collaborative efforts.
Zelenskyy emphasized that both Ukraine and Poland are actively working to implement crucial defense agreements. He expressed optimism that tangible progress would be seen in the coming six months, underscoring the importance of their joint efforts.
“I thank Andrzej personally and the people of Poland for their support, for the substantial defense assistance, and for the joint decisions made in the name of our freedom and yours,” Zelenskyy added.
In a political transition, Duda, who is ineligible for a third term under Polish law, is set to be succeeded by Karol Nawrocki on August 6, following Nawrocki’s recent victory in Poland's presidential election earlier this month.
